The Rupuni Farmers Rodeo in Guyana
The Rupununi Farmers rodeo is organized by the RLPA and has become the biggest tourist event on the Visit Rupununi calendar. Attracting spectators and attendees from Rupununi, Georgetown and Brazil, it is a celebration of the culture and lifestyle of the region's farmers. Held annually during the 2 days of Easter weekend, the expectation is that hotels, restaurants and inns will be full in advance. The participants are mostly local cowboys who participate in events such as bareback, American saddle, bull, calf lasso and wild cow milkmaid. The rodeo is a period of experiencing the warm hospitality of the people of Rupununi. So come, watch, hang out, and maybe even participate in the Rodeo!
